Hi Bobby, welcome to the hog. Sorry you are having trouble right out of the starting gate. I wish i could help you, but I'm a Canon user. Believe me there are Nikon users here that are more than willing to help you.

Thanks for the warm welcome and the links for help.
My problem was using a non compliant lens and not being able to view through the eyepiece,, it was resolved by using the two buttons on the right rear of the camera. Not too scientific in explaining but it worked.
