We are too politically correct to do something like that, that is why our country is making a mad dash to being a 3rd world country, rather than the strongest.

Bingo!! only in America can a six year old kid get accused of sexual harassment by kissing his little girlfriend on the hand! And, it will stay on his record. Can it get any more absurd than this..geez!!

Same sort of stupidity rampant here in the UK as well. How the idiots who make these decisions ever got through childhood and on to these positions amazes me.

We have had situations where kids at school could not celebrate various Christian festivals in case they offended the children of muslim immigrants .

And a lot of American kids "burn out" from drugs.
A lot of American kids can't write a sentence.
A lot of American children can not speak properly.

I've been there, Tokyo is a very safe city, even at 2 A.M.!

Thank goodness these " burnt out " American kids are not the majority!

Agree Tokyo is very safe. Like I say, I love it. Just pointing out that nothing is ever clear black or white.
One reason Japan is so safe is because they have some of
the toughest gun (and sword) control in the World.

That's a pretty easy thing to do when you won't let foreigners in.

It's almost impossible to get a driver's license.

very few jobs except translators, but you can teach english.

They are painfully polite.

They are a one ethnic group society.

Their food is dull to tasteless.

Meat is more expensive than gasoline.

Japan - some interesting facts

These practices set a high standard for young people . . . . .

* Japanese children clean their schools every day for a quarter of an
hour with teachers. This led to the emergence of a Japanese generation
who is modest and keen on cleanliness.

* Any Japanese citizen who has a dog must carry special bags to pick
up dog droppings. Hygiene and their eagerness to address cleanliness
is part of Japanese ethics.

* A hygiene worker in Japan is called "health engineer" and can command a salary of USD 5000 to 8000 per month, and a cleaner is subjected to written and oral tests!!

* Japan does not have any natural resources, and they are exposed to
hundreds of earthquakes a year, but this has not prevented its becoming the second largest economy in the world.

* In just ten years Hiroshima returned to what it was economically vibrant before the fall of the atomic bomb.

* Japan prevents the use of mobile phones in trains, restaurants and indoors.

* For first to sixth primary year Japanese students must learn ethics in
dealing with people.

* Even though one of the richest people in the world, the Japanese do
not have servants. The parents are responsible for the house and children.

* There is no examination from the first to the third primary level because the goal of education is to instill concepts and character building.

* If you go to a buffet restaurant in Japan you will notice people only eat as much as they need without any waste because food must not be wasted.

* The rate of delayed trains in Japan is about 7 seconds per year!!
The Japanese appreciate the value of time and are very punctual to minutes and seconds.

* Children in schools brush their teeth (sterile) and clean their teeth after a meal at school, teaching them to maintain their health from an early age.

* Japanese students take half an hour to finish their meals to ensure proper digestion because these students are the future of Japan .

The Japanese focus on maintaining their own culture. Therefore . . . . .

* No political leader or a prime minister from an Islamic nation has visited Japan-not the Ayatollah of Iran, the King of Saudi Arabia or even a Saudi Prince!!

* Japan is a country keeping Islam at bay by putting strict restrictions on Islam and ALL Muslims.

1) Japan is the only nation that does not give citizenship to Muslims.
2) In Japan permanent residency is not given to Muslims.
3) There is a strong ban on the propagation of Islam in Japan .
4) In the University of Japan , Arabic or any Islamic language is not taught.
5) One cannot import a 'Koran' published in the Arabic language.
6) According to data published by the Japanese government, it has given temporary residency to only 2 lakhs, Muslims,
who must follow the Japanese Law of the Land. These Muslims should speak Japanese and carry out their religious
rituals in their homes.
7) Japan is the only country in the world that has a negligible number of embassies in Islamic countries.
8) Muslims residing in Japan are the employees of foreign companies.
9) Even today, visas are not granted to Muslim doctors, engineers or
managers sent by foreign companies.

10) In the majority of companies it is stated in their regulations that no Muslims should apply for a job.

11) The Japanese government is of the opinion that Muslims are
fundamentalist, and even in the era of globalization they are not
willing to change their Muslim laws.
12) Muslims cannot even rent a house in Japan .
13) If anyone comes to know that his neighbor is a Muslim then the whole neighborhood stays alert.
14) No one can start an Islamic cell or Arabic 'Madrasa' in Japan .
15) There is no Sharia law in Japan .
16) If a Japanese woman marries a Muslim, she is considered an outcast forever.
17) According to Mr. Kumiko Yagi, Professor of Arab/Islamic Studies at Tokyo University of Foreign Studies , " There is a mind frame in Japan that Islam is a very narrow minded religion and one should stay away from it."

The Japanese might have lost the war, but they are in charge of their own country. There are no bombs going off in crowded business centers, "Honor Killings", nor killing of innocent children or anyone else.

Something to think about......
Maybe they've got it right.....
Only time will tell!!!!

I did not know all of this as well. Very interesting facts. I like the fact that the children are taught that "cleanliness" is as important as many other things.

The Japanese have been traced as to existence in the year 12,000 BC, shortly after the Ice Age. I spent time in Japan courtesy the US Military forces in the early 1950's during the Korean War. Their tendency toward isolation is historically famous but has been more easily obtained by virtue of being surrounded by water coupled with the need to work and survive in lock step obedience. It is almost the exact opposite of the USA in that regard. I found the Japanese to be fascinating, courteous, industrious, dutiful and we could use some of it in the USA right now.

Keep in mind that we were key re-building Japan and her factories after WW-II and forbade them from building a large military. Essentially we were their protectorate (probably by virtue of the many U.S. bases there) and this allowed them to concentrate money and resources on more beneficial items. They are the second largest holder of U.S. securities, not far behind China.

You know, a few short decades ago before all this PC crap began if little Jimmy were to do that to little Mary everyone would say, "...aww, how cute is that. He must have a crush on Mary." (no harm, no pain) The only real thing that political correctness has done is to create hypocrisy. I'd bet a lot of money that if today little Mary went over and kissed Jimmy, not a thing would be said...or maybe they would say, "...Oh, how cute." In the business world if a woman said, "...he's got a great body," nothing would come of it. But in that same scenario if a man said,"...she's got a great body," he'd be brought up on sexual harassment charges, fired and walked out the door, and have that on his work record for ever. I don't know about you, but I liked the old days better.

I'm with you on that!! It's ashamed today that if you compliment someone they can turn it around and file harrassment charges. Some people are just nuts when it comes to things like this.
