This is a stone placed on the shore of Derwentwater lake in Cumbria by the National Trust in 1995, to commemorate One hundred years of the National Trust
One Hundred year Stone
Well, they chose a beautiful setting, I'll give them that. I only wish they'd chosen a stone with more character.
Does the stone placed there mean that the lake or that are is part of the National Trust?
Derwentwater is in an area known as the Lake District. I believe that large parts of the Lake District are under the care of the National Trust.

Thanks all for the comments, The character of the stone is the inside, there are 10 segments that represents 10 years, each of which has been hollowed out quite deep into the stone and each half of the stone matches up when put together, any more than that I don't know.
Ive been a member of the Trust or years am and I didn't know about this stone? That said , its a lovely picture Benbo
