The veterans here know who they are and tend to ignore them as they attack the newbies and avail their lack of photographic knowledge or skill upon others here. I for one will apologize for these pathetic clowns but there is nothing we can do to stop them. You need to get thicker skin and do the same. Ignore these kind of remarks and revel in the available knowledge you can garner from those of us that truly are here to help.

Yes, and if you don't like a thread you can click "unwatch" above and you won't see messages from it again.

MtnMan. That was one of my points, I am always amazed at the people who find a need to jump into a post just to chastise someone or make negative comments. Especially when they can choose to just move on and ignore. But I guess that will always remain one of the great mysteries of life. My other purpose was hopefully for new members to read this and realize those people are in the minority and that there are alot more veterans of this site like yourself who are more than happy to lend help. Thanks for the comment

Please forgive me in advance, I am sorry if I offend anyone, but Stop saying "Use Search First that question has been answered before". If it has been asked before and you are tired of reading posts about it don't open it just move on. There is no need to chastise someone just let it be. Let it be known this is not aimed at the veteran posters who will generously answer a question and also add, You can find more info by doing a search. That is actually very helpful.

I would like to give you another perspective. There are some of us who are new to photography and we are trying to learn. One of the ways is obviously reading posts. By reading posts we picking up new things that we didn't know before. So to those of you who get annoyed when a question about rule of thirds is asked for the 1000th time, keep in mind there are lots of us out here who couldn't do a search on rule of thirds because we didn't even know what rule of thirds was. You also need to understand that poster who just annoyed you by asking a question that has already been asked 1000 times just helped someone who didn't even know they had a question. I would like to suggest that the next time you see a question or a post about a topic that has come up before, before you take the time and energy to reply "USE SEARCH FIRST" Save your energy and don't waste your time just move on and smile knowing there is a newbie learning something and you just gained more time to go out and shoot. Thank You for reading this. Happy Shooting Hogs

Oh and if you are the poor soul who gets hit with a "Use search first" Feel free go give them the link to this post and tell them to "Search this post"

I'm glad someone brought this up! Some of the topics I've searched undoubtedly have newer info available, particularly with the addition of new people, products and experiences. Plus at some point nobody would have to post because everything will be available in a search. Just kidding, but you know what I mean, there would be less and less interaction. It is unfortunate that some folks seem a little rude, but they can't help it.

The Search feature can be excellent. Unfortunately, when someone creates a topic like, "Help!" or "How Did This Happen?" searching is useless.

I see this forum as social as much as technical. There is no question on this forum that can't be answered through a Google search, but that's not the point of the forum.

And I've heard that some members have a sense of humor, so we get the occasional chuckle. :D

OMG, that is such a stupid thing to say! Photography is serious work, nobody who does it can have a sense of humor. And chuckling ruins your image, even with VR/IS/OS.

Amehta, don't worry about the humor, that was a typo. I'm sure that was not a "chuckle". Jerry, really meant a, "chuckhole" !! :-)

Thank you for this thread. As a total 'noob' I am sometimes afraid to post a "stupid" question. I've been on other message boards and gotten that "Do a Search" response and thought "If I new what the hell I was looking for, I would have done that first!" This has NOT happened to me here (yet) I read all of the threads that interest me or that have a title that I feel like I can learn something from. Sometimes I don't understand the answers but I keep reading and researching online and off.

Jaackil, I for one will NOT forgive you, as you are being much to civilized !! You should have blasted them a little harder, but alas, you obviously hold you're liquor much better than I.
I agree, 100%.
And yes, it's so easy to just change the channel, or even indeed, not even turn on the TV, but just like something very hideous, they just have to take a peek. And like the goofy, geeky kids from Big Bang, when spoken to by a good looking girl, the only thing they can manage to utter, is, "do a search", which I suppose is about the best that they can do.
So Jaackil, don't be too hard on them, even though they so deserve it, as some of them get slapped around so much already. But if your slapping hand gets tired, just let me know, I'm glad to help. ;-)

As Newbee's come on this site, most never see the Search button and therefore, ask the questions that have been repeated many times. There are those of us who, no matter how many times we have heard the answer, feel it is our duty to help others as we have been help in the past.
Thank you for that post Jaackil.
