Rotating main control has no effect on aperture or shutter speed. Camera malfunction??? Always shows 2000th at wide open. Pics look OK but I don't necessarily want 2000th. I would prefer smaller aperture sometimes.
You need to be on M or S mode, anything else will not allow any change
Also, inside the menu you can set the minimal speed and if you have changed that... Yikes!
See page 107 of the Users Manual. Now I am really confused.
What???
What mode is your camera set to? P, S, A or M?
This is on top of your LCD display.
If on P the trouble is within the menu.
Anything else, S or A Should be changing the speed when using the front wheel
When on M the front wheel changes the aperture, the back wheel the Speed. Wheels are located on the top right of the camera, do not use the disk in the back, it has other purposes.
Minimal speed in menu was the problem, thanks very much,I am still learning. Learn something every day. Thanks again.

It is amazing how many choices there are on a DSLR, and how you may have to hunt for pairs of them at times that interact together.
