Had some time to play in post processing. Not trying for anything serious.

Truck left at the abandoned quarry in Becket Mass and a nut from the truck.

It is interesting how things change and still stay the same. That old truck looks like it was used as a parts truck for newer versions thru the years. You still see that in quarries today.

Curious as to the purpose of the fan in the back of the truck - dust control / spreading?

It is used for extra push up out of the Quarry ... kind of like the fan on the back of old VW bugs I have seen around!!

Thanks everyone for your comments and interest.

James56- here is the original shot you were curious about.

And since I never learned to leave well enough alone  I grunged-up the shot just for the fun of it.

At one time(when new) this was a truck mounted Air compressor unit. It was set up near the Pneumatic drill that was used to drill the holes that dynamite was put down to break up the rock into crushable pieces in a gravel pit, and into slabs for making tables and counter tops. It carried a 4 or 6 cylinder engine to power the 4 cal air compressor you can just barely see behind the cab of the truck. That fan was for the radiator that was behind it. My guess is they took the motor out when it went bad and scrounged parts from this truck to keep another one running.

That's what I thought - cooling fan for something.

Thanks for posting the color version. Wow, a lot more gone than I first thought. But still an interesting piece. Your grunge version did a great job of bring out the detail.
