Contests should be judged by a professional, with no names under the photos until after judging. You can always have an "exhibitor's favorite" and/or a vote for "guests favorite"

Rachel, it is posted on the 1st page of this post. I prefer the b/w copy which is posted on page 2 or 3 as I like it much better!

I am really sorry to hear this...but let me say this...In her/his mind they know they did not win fairly and will always haunt her.
Interesting how cheaters just go about business as usual but I look at it this way...You cheat me,one day someone will cheat you. The world is round and what goes around, comes around...Always! You may not see it but know that there day will come.
Try and let it go,take that energy and put it toward making your photography outstanding.
Before you enter again...make sure it is not the crowds who do the judging...enter a more professional arena.

Good luck!

When money is involved, people will do things like that. Remember life isn't always fair.

I agree, however, no names was under the photographs. I simply believe "she the cheater" had shown her photograph to "the helpers". The only thing posted with the photographs was a number. Mine was (#4).

Agreed! I actually enter this one every year but will no longer be doing so. More often I enter the local WOLF's Camera contest which is all pros.

Keep your chin up JWilliams, your photo is beautiful. When people who abide by the rules compete against those who disregard the rules, the cheaters always have the advantage. You see it in sports, politics, and everywhere in life. I have lost in those situations on many different levels. I know it made me upset, as it has you, but I believe good things come to honest people. Maybe not in a photo contest, but somewhere else. I see all the good things in my life and attribute them to the good things I have done. Call it Karma, call it divine intervention, call it luck, but whatever it is you will be rewarded. Keep on living your life by the rules, the only important judge knows who you are and what you do. May God bless you for accepting the loss with integrity.

Beautiful photo. A real winner in my book. Know that you really "GOT" it.

That might be better but photography like art is subjective. If the other contest doesn't cost you anything to enter, keep entering if your nerves can handle it. Hey 2500 is 2500 and maybe they will change the judging rules. Quality photos will show everyone how bad the judging is.

Very true! I honestly think it was completely planned out by her. Maybe she needed the money that bad? Who really knows?

The way I am seeing it. If she had to cheat to get 1st place, then so be it. She must be going through a rough time in her life.

An UPDATE: I got a phone call at 9am this morning. A friend mentioned before. Tells me that one of the other (Photographers) was arrested late last night after breaking into the home of the Grand Prize Winner of yesterdays contest.

Say's it don't sound good. He'll keep me updated.
