Hi, I am asking Santa for a Wacom Intuos Pro for Christmas. Could anyone that uses a Wacom tablet advise me on which size to get, a medium or large.
Thanks
Anne

It depends on your needs. I recently had a nice discussion with customer service at Wacom. Because my hand is getting less steady, he gave me the reasons that he thought the large Intuos Pro would be good for me.

I thought he was providing good information, not trying to up-sell me.

You may want to send them an e-mail. It took about two days for me to get a response, but it was meaningful. Since then, I have not received any unsolicited mailings.

Maybe it is because I have used a mouse (with short strokes) for so long that I would prefer the smaller one. I have a Wacom Bamboo 8"x14" and think if I could do it over would choose a smaller one.

I have the small one simply because I don't have that much room on my desk. It works just fine for me.

Agree! I too prefer the smaller one. Less hand movement, too!

Thank you all for replying. Looks like I will save money and buy the smaller one. Hope it's not too much of a learning curve.

I have the Intous Medium size and that works well for me. Yes, it depends on how you are going to use it and where you'll be using it. I found the medium to fit well on the desk and now that we live in a motorhome I have a lap type desk that I use for the keyboard and pad. I've used one since 2003 and wouldn't be without it for photo processing. I do a lot of photo restorations and it is invaluable because a lot of the work is fixing pixel by pixel and I never could be that specific with a mouse.

I have a medium size Intuos, kinda wish I bought the small one. My hand/arm does a lot of traveling across the tablet.

The medium size is what I use and it has been just perfect for me.

I use the pad that has the working area of about 4x6. I have a larger Wacom one that I picked up at a camera swap meet for 20 bucks without the pen, but I don't see any real advantage to it. It is too big for hand holding while it is not on the desktop. When I travel, the smaller one goes with me and my laptop as well .

I use the Wacom for doing the detail work in my images. Since the working area is such a small part of the image, I rarely use the whole surface of even the smaller pad. The rest is just wasted space for me.

Love my Wacom but I, too, wish I had gotten the smaller one.

I have the Large Intuos4 (actually the same, almost, as the Intuos5 and Pro models). I like the larger work surface, although it takes up a lot of "desk space".
