Thanks for the comments. It was the only decent shot I got that day or I wouldn't have kept it either. It was better than coming home empty handed and it its growing on me mainly because his eye seems to be looking right at me and as you said it is in perfect focus. I also liked how you can see between his wings how the feathers fold up when the wings go up. I had never noticed this before.

Your shot is perfectly focused and the water action is frozen, but the original is a bit underexposed and of low contrast. Gray, overcast days do that to us. Your LR5 version is better, you've increased the contrast and exposure and added some color to the water.
In the end, I am not a great fan of this shot.
