I have included different bird photos from various areas around where I live. To view more of these photos, click on this link
http://bit.ly/woESMa. I used my Nikon D300S with a 70-200mm f-2.8 and 1.4 Teleconverter to capture these 3 images. The camera was set on speed priority for all these photos.
Camera setting;
#....ISO....Speed....f-stop....EV
1....200....1/2000...f-4.0.....-1
2....400....1/1600...f-7.1.....-2/3
3....400....1/1600...f-8.0.....-2/3
I would really appreciate your comments and critiques on these photos. Thanks Arnold
Scrub Jay
Roseate Spoonbill
Glossy Ibis in Flight
My favorite is the scrub jay. Great colors. He looks (dare I try to spell it?) pugnacious.

Pixalated, Thank you very much for your comments. Yes, you spelled pugnacious correctly, but I had to look up the meaning of it. :) Arnold

Hey Arnold
Love the Jay, Spoonbill why to soft and the last one looks good, tuff to get fine detail on flying bird. Are you shooting in Program mode with set ISO and let the camera choose shutter speed and aperture??
I am always partial to Roseate Spoonbill photos (big fan of Audubon's prints of them). I dont think I've seen a better one of a roseate on "full wing" soar like this one.
As an aside: I hope some of the new folks in here appreciate (and study) the settings you post. They dont know what a gift it is to have someone technically excellent GIVE you thier keys to success. I know I always read them carefully even though I learned the basics many years ago. Thanks.

fstop22, I shot the Spoonbill in speed priority at 1/1600 sec and a f-stop around f-8. The ISO was set to 400. I used a Nikon D300S set at continuous focus mode with a 21 point matrix focus. The other thing that may have caused it to be soft is because I had to crop it down to 18% of its original size. Arnold

I like all of them, the portrait of the Scrub Jay is excellent. You also did a great job of the 2 that are flying, both are very sharp....
