Thinking of going with smugmug pro. Is it worth the money and can anyone get me a discount? I shoot alot of horse related events but it is not an every day thing. Mostly just on weekends and may be a month full or a month without any. Just wondering if it is worth the time and money to do this.
it's worth it if you plan to use your site as a place to put images for clients, where they can log in, choose the ones they want, and purchase online. if you just plan to show your stuff there and hope someone buys, not so much.

Dano13, I have been using it for 3 years now and it is well worth the price. It can be customize and you can set your own prices. They continue to update their website with new features. If you start with a lower level SmugMug website you can always upgrade it. If you are using Lightroom 3, you upload directly from LR3 to SmugMug website. If you send me a Private Message I can get a small discount off the price. Arnold

It will be used as a selling site. I am carrying a laptop and loading images on the laptop and taking orders now and looking to make my life easier.

I have been using smugmug and it is simple to navigate and you can set your own prices, lock down folders, preview orders etc. I googled "smugmug discounts" and found a $75 off coupon when I began. Check it out!

have not thought of it...will have to look into it.
I have been selling photos to clients through Zenfolio for over a year now. I looked at Smugmug too and at the time I think it was more expensive. Zen will set you up with your own website/store and you control everything.
Good luck

I'm on my 3rd year with SmugMug Pro and it's worked great for me and the customer service is top notch! They are constantly making changes to make it better for us with no disruption in service. One of the latest features is the ability to up load photos or entire albums directly to facebook from SmugMug with a link back to SmugMug to purchase the photo. Bottom line is they are great to work with!
One of the prices is $59.00, The other is $129.00 It looks like a great site. I'm thinking of joining it. Go to Viewbug.com and you can get all the info.

I subscribed to SmugMug Pro and to Shutterbug Storefront. Smugmug has a nicer look to their sight when you set up you viewing pages, it is very intuitive and easy. Shutterbug Storefront (shutterbugstorefront.com) is a little more difficult to set up the look you want (their reps will help you out) but their prices are a lot less than Smugmug, both for the price of your site and for the cost of the pictures and mugs, t-shirts etc. that you have them print for your clients. Both sites have GREAT customer service. Shutterbug also allows you to print your own photos and they will take care of the payments for a very small fee. Both sites offer great ways to personalize your orders and your site. For me it was a question of money, so after 2 years I dropped the Smugmug site and stayed with Shutterbug Storefront. You can get an online discount code for your first year only (was $50 off).
