I just purchased a refurbished 5d Mark III from the Canon website at significant savings. The camera was in perfect condition; I only had to reset the settings to factory default to make it the same as buying it brand new. I would definitely consider buying a refurbished camera or lens from Canon.

Get 'em while they're hot! Can refurbished lenses go fast and for good reason. They are excellent, warrantied and a steal.

I now watch for the factory refurbished lenses. Why?

When someone returns a lens that has been opened the company that sold it must return it to Canon, no matter what the reason. Canon then inspects that lens checking everything. When a lens comes off the manufactures assembly line they may have checked one out of every few hundred lenses for quality control. They check, and repair if necessary, every lens that is returned to them. They then sale it as a refurbished lens. That means you know that lens has been checked and is with-in factory standards but the one off the line may not have been checked. Not only that but Canon now gives a one year warrantee on that lens, the same as many of their ne lenses, ad it is less expensive. How can you go wrong?

Refurbished Canon bodies and lenses are like new only better. I always look for them as my first choice.

Not all are used out of box and not registered, Majority of Canon's refurbs are over stock that did not sell and Canon goes through them with fine tooth comb and applies a 1year warranty to the gear. When someone buys them from Canon.

So, what is mean't by in a white box? The price is lower...

I've purchased many things that are refurbished. I've never had one problem with them. Sometimes the software they include is a little outdated, but most of the time the manufacturer has downloadable drivers and software for devices that need them. Of course, you won't have software issues with a lens - just saying....

I purchased a Canon 100mm F2.8 macro IS "L" series refurbished from Adorama. Assume it was refurbished by Canon. Looked like a brand new lens that had never been taken out of the package. Saved a little over $150.00 on the deal. Had no problems. great lens.

Papa, I think it's, "shop.usa.canon.com". Even if it's not, that should bring it up.
Also, if it's bodies your looking for, don't forget to ask how the loyalty program works, to save about 20% more over refurb.
