Playing with feeling (A self portrait)

I play a ton of different instruments, mainly stringed. Been playing for years and have at least 1 of each instrument I play. I really love the sound of the violin in my case fiddle. I am introducing you to my "$4,000.00 Cremona Maestro Special Edition Natural Tone Violin". I remember taking this out of the case and tuning it for the first time. The sound was and still is, so beautiful! Just thought I'd share it with you...

I only play by ear as I cannot read sheet music and tabs are just to difficult to mess with as they do not carry a rhythm at all. Sound is my specialty and I use it with care!

What do you think of the portrait and what could I have done different? Remember, I was the one behind the camera and in the lens.

Could you turn into the window just a tad more, maybe that would bring your right elbow out of the dark. I know that's your arm but it could be anyone's arm coming into view there. I like that you are using the natural light coming through the window, not always a easy shot to pull off.

Thanks! I agree, my arm is a bit out of sight. I tried several shots and this one was the closest I could get with my arm in as the violins scroll (head) was about 1/4inch away from the window and I didn't want to scratch the surface. My lens was a "Sigma Canon 18-50mm 2.8-3.5" and was set at about 28mm. I was going to take more but my kids woke up so this is the best one of all of them.

I think I took about 30 different shots before I got the natural light to look correct through the window. All around I do believe I ended up with about 80+ photographs and this is the only one I liked well enough to keep. I will try your idea, when I get more time (kids take a nap).

Thanks for your feedback!

Think God has blessed you with the ability to play so many instruments!

You are so multi talented. Lovely picture, but the fingers on your right hand look like your nails are really sharp.
