On a lighter note: question for car buffs.

Does anyone know what this is? I took this photo at a car show but forgot to get the info from the little show card in the windshield. I looked all over the web and can't find one exactly like it. Is it a real production car or a kit?

Whatzit?

Not sure but I think it is a kit car never saw anything like it.
It looks like a Lotus to me but I can not find a Lotus that looks like that one.

Ok, I THINK I've answered my own question. It could very will be a kit car called a Laser 917, made by a company called Elite Enterprises, not sure where they are at. I think it's based on a Porche. Not sure.

That car is air cooled rear engine you can tell that by the build so you may be right.
I think it is a kit car of some kind.

I like that idea. It would be a blast to go 4-wheeling in that.

Thank you! Looks like you nailed it!
If you want to see a real 917 go to the Simeone Foundation, a car museum in Philadelphia, near the airport. They have the famous "hippie car," a privateer that finished second to the factory 917 at Lemans. It's painted in a paisley scheme, hence the name. It was clocked at over 240 mph down the Mulsanne straight. The day I was there they drove it around the parking lot. Great museum of sports cars, all with a racing history.
Hi,
This car is a 917 Porsche don't know what year maybe 1970s or later most of them are sports race cars look it up on
www.wikipedia.org it has a great amount of info about the car
Take Care,
Tankoking
As noted above, the car in the OP pic is a kit car designed to look like a real 917.

The 917 on the front of the car probably indicates Porsche. Just a guess, mind you.
