These seem to be some made-up statistics from Tom Corley, who is trying to sell his book (Rich Habits) to people who would like to be rich. I doubt if there was much a scientific survey; he probably just pulled these numbers out of his ass. Don't try to go to RichHabitsInstitue.com because it does not exist.
Well, it looks to me like an average ...ooo...35% of the poor have these good habits and they still don't get the wealth!!
I apologize for not checking out the web site.
The statistics may well be made up; but until they are proven grossly wrong; I will at least evaluate them and play the info against what I have observed. Those I know who read books of substance do well. Those who get marketable degrees past high school do well.
I suggest that you compare the difference against what you have observed.

Maybe the single mother who works 2 jobs and has an hour commute to work needs to start setting her alarm clock a little earlier.

C'mon, if that single mom had kept her legs crossed she wouldn't be in that situation. Poverty is totally a choice she made, so she should just live with it and not expect people to give a damn about her. Or at least conservatives.

Conservatives give more money, time, and blood to charity than liberals. Perhaps it is more accurate to say that liberals don't give a damn.

Really? Do you have a source for that? That coincides what someone posted about Russia. He said that there is basically no philanthropy in Russia.
Tschmath....
The only way you can verify what I am saying is to come to my town and see for yourself..
BUT..... in a 50mile radius of the center of my Town there are 17 Food Banks where food is provided free and no proselytizing, other than Tract Racks on the walls of some. 4 Used Clothing Stores (no pay all for free), and 11 "Ministerial Associations" which provide, gasoline, lodging, etc as needed, all no charge.
All of these are run on Donations From Churches, individuals and businesses..... And being veery charitable, the mix is at least 50/50 Liberals and Conservatives..... But I would wager a lot that the mix is closer to 70/30 Conservaives giving .
You have made this claim time and time again on these forums, and it is as ignorant this time as each of the other times..

Well Tschmath..... I have 24 Grandchildren and 8 Great Grandchildren, 2 of the Grandchilddren have had 2 each illegitimate children.. I have helped With cash, etc for each of the (2) mothers... BUT I have also informed them both that 2 each is plenty... and if either had a third child with out benefit of husband/father there would be no further help from me. SO far no more babies.... and the youngest of those 4 children is 8 the oldest 12......
And I did tell both of them, that keeping their legs together would be at least somewhat of a cure for the Pregnancy problem... The one girl has no idea who is the father of either of her children....... I have compassion, but I also have limits.
Mike
I did explain to them (to the horror of their Grandmother
OOPS didn't finish my thoughts on last line..... and being of an age, I have forgotten what it was going to be....
Figure it out for yourselves...LOL

I'd like to see the percentages of income vs charitable contributions as a factor. Conservatives as a rule have more disposable income than liberals and when filing the long form can list those charitable contributions as deductions. How many multi-billionaires are Liberal compared to Conservatives? Fewer I would imagine.
Some interesting comments from Michael White
Who's More Charitable - Liberals or Conservatives? And in fact, Kristof notes that "According to Googles figures, if donations to all religious organizations are excluded, liberals give slightly more to charity than conservatives do."
"Is this because more conservatives go to church, and give moeny to their church? For example, Mormons (who tend to be conservative), give 10% of their income to one of the wealthiest churches on the face of the planet, and one which does considerably less humanitarian work around than many churches (liberal and conservative) with much less wealth. Most of us wouldn't count everything you give to your church as "giving to charity," so you should ask yourself if the studies Kristof talks about take church giving into account."
"Are conservatives richer, and thus able to give more to charity? Kristof notes that "measuring by the percentage of income given, conservatives are more generous than liberals even to secular causes," but we're given no information on how giving relates to wealth. When I'm spending 80% of my income on basics like food, housing, and transportation, I have less money to give as a percentage of my income. If I only spend 30% on the basics, I'm free to give a larger chunk to charity."

It does if you spell "institute" correctly. Perhaps I know this because I am rich!!

I'd like to see some proof of that statement. I believe that you have it backwards.
