Nice article and it certainly can't hurt you business. Best of luck to you.

Thanks CaptainC, its already been a good first summer, even thinking of expanding for my one year anniversary next June.

Actually I do 4 photo seminars a year in Yellowstone Park, September 2013 was dedicated to UHH members only. Next seminar is June 1-4, 2014.
I also do 7 free 1 hour summer seminars at the store, every other Saturday at 11am, on the front lawn.

Great news about your little store... When you open a branch in Florida, we will all be your favorite customers. Good luck with this adventure.

Yes we will, but you're going to have to drive to Tampa as I've decided that's where his first Florida store will be located!

It took me reading all the way to the end of the messages to realize you look like Dennis Anderson of "Grave Digger" fame.

Luck on your endeavor, and I am reminded of a thing my dad told me many years ago;"Son, if you enjoy your job you will never see it as work."

Quite a while ago I saw video of you online doing a seminar on tripods. I think it was for your local camera club.

Yes, that was an OLD one from long ago, in a galaxy far, far away........

I have relied on his expertise and I am so excited to go to Yellowstone in June for the UHH seminar. I will be taking along a new to me tripod and ballhead I bought from MT. And a new to me Nikon lens he will be shipping soon. If you ask him he will look for gear for you and if you buy from him it will be exactly as he states it will be.

Its a brave person who opens a shop when all around are closing! You obviously diversify to support your "photo habit". Well done for being independently minded, I hope your ventures are successful.

You realize that the next hundred threads on UHH are going to start
" I'm thinking of opening a photography store. What camera's should I sell?"
Hope you've got the answers ready....

The answer is easy, "The ones your customers need!"
In my case, it has been Nikons, overwhelmingly!

MT, Congrats on the exposure in the paper and on your success so far. All well deserved due to your hard work and generosity. Here in Baton Rouge, a huge, growing city, our last non big box closed on Nov. 3. It was a busy, Nikon dealership with knowlegeable film and digi staff with awesome customer care. I always bought there, even paying the few $ more to support them. It truly was a SAD day a couple of Fridays ago. The very best of luck. It sounds like you're doing it right

Wish you good luck, MT. What is aggravating is that local camera stores aren't that much more expensive than legitimate mail order, if at all. Myself, even 10% is worth the difference to buy local. I realize that not everyone agrees with me on that, though.

I agree completely, its worth every penny to be able to talk, face to face to someone you can get to know and trust.

Just thought I would pass on a quick blurb about my little camera store being featured in the business section of the local paper, the largest paper in our secluded state. I wasn't impressed with the picture they used, but it was a blizzard outside so they couldn't take a shot of the store itself.
Its been a pretty slow month so far and I hope this drives a bit of Christmas business out my way. Nothing like a little free advertising!

Congratulations. I just posted it to my Face Book page. If you get in any old Hasselblad lenses and stuff for a 500c let me know. I have rapidly become addicted. When you get Canon let me know and I will buy my fisheye from you. Best wishes!! I always enjoy your posts.
