An assignment for our local camera club is ghost pictures. Can anyone tell me how to do that? My camera is just a point & shoot. Cheap compared to most of you. Also it is my first digital camera.
I am still learning.

If you can enlarge this picture you will see what appears to be someone walking out of this covered beigde. There was no one there when I took this picture. Its not what you have to do, just being at the right place at the right time.

Wish I could see it but how do I enlarge the picture. I have already have 'puter screen on full. Are we allowed, or should I ask if we can make copies of favored pictures to put in a file? Your covered bridge looks a lot like the one we have here. Only we don't have snow.

Ghosting is done by using 20-30 sec exposure and having the person or object move out the picture frame at 8-10 seconds of exposure. In the completed picture that person or object should appear hollow but there.
I have not done this, only read about it. You may need to play with exposure times to get your desired picture.

Try right clicking your mouse. Then save picture as... save it somewhere and see if you can magnify or zoom in on it that way.

I know what chapjohn is talking about with the long exposure. I haven't done this either. I just know when I took this particular picture no one was on the brige. I wish I could take a camera in where I work. i have seen and heard alot of strange things there.

Thank you Peacemaker and Chapjohn. Not looking for a real ghost but a ghostly image. I have been reading the book I ordered that should have come with my Fugifilm. Haven't found anything in it either. Like how to hold for 10 to 20 seconds. I do have a neat ghost picture that I too many years ago on film. Called double exposure. I am such a dunce when it comes to these things. I was going to post a picture or three. Copied all the instructions on how to but so far - nothing. I will keep reading and trying. All suggestions and tips are very welcomed. Thank you again. JacLee

It does matter the size or kind of camera for a 10-20 second exposure, it seems best to use a tripod.

The arrow is pointing to something that looks like
a head of a person.

I have been to a few UFO/BIGFOOT/GHOST seminars and one person talked about using a infrared filter. You will need a tripod to shoot from. You can use this for day time shooting GHOST pics. I went to a cemetery and tired this.
I did not capture any GHOSTS but the pics did come out.

ghosting is somethin' you do with lights and night photography, google "painting with light" the above mentioned long exposure with a tripod is going to be needed..it is kinda fun to play with and light painting is an art form all to itself in photography..good luck

Why are people telling this poor guy how to shoot 'real' ghosts when all he wants is to create ghost like images??
