Nekon, I won first place in a state wide collegiate sports photo contest with a canon 40d. the year before I won 3rd place.

priorities...people skills, talent, equipment.

What equipment do you have now that will make you a better photographer since your last wedding?

Not sure if this is aimed at me, but I have several cameras from a 99 dollar compact to a Nikon D300,and even if I owned a Nikon D4s the camera would not make me a better photographer, only experience does this-you need to put in the time.

This is the problem, most people, (except those dreamers who use iphones) are under the impression that you need a great camera to make great images-not so.

I agree, but that's not the problem here. You totally ignored the point of my previous post. You quoted my post and lumped me in with 'most people'. What do you really know about me that qualifies me as a gearhead?

You advised a rank amateur photographer , who has never done wedding photography before, to think about using either one of two very expensive cameras, neither of which will produce any better images than an entry level dslr.

So? From one suggestion you can surmise who I am and how I approach photography? You're not even close.

That's what I like to read-skills over equipment.

I know not who you are neither do I care-you suggested cameras that would take a rank amateur six months to learn via the multitude of menus-pointless.

I'm new on here and when I reply to someone I never get the original message I am responding to in my response. case in point, I was responding to the original poster and you thought I was responding to you.
How do I reply to someone so everyone knows who I am actually replying to?
(With 2 bachelors degrees, 3 masters degrees, and all but the defense for a doctorate, you would think I could figure this thing out.)
And everyone else, I would appreciate it if we left out the normal UHH protocol of "I know more then you"
Jim

Just forget it. You won't address or take responsibility for your throwing out labels based on a single line of information. Don't bother responding, I'm done here.

Agreeing again..I started out in the early 90's with a 70's era Pentax film SLR and BFA in my pocket..green as the new spring grass. Worked 2 years as a second shooter until my skill and experience level was 1st shooter quality. I did some great work with that old dinosaur.

People do get so caught up in the latest gear and skip the basics..which is why so many with top of the line equipment are churning out crap..They can't figure out what went wrong or how to fix it,because they never learned how to do it in the 1st place.
