I use center point expanded on the 7D and pretty much just put it right on the bird.
This was 1000 shutter at 6.3 and 400 ISO in Manual mode. We had a mix of sun and clouds and when the scene got a bit darker I changed the ISO from 200 to 400. But just as one GBH started to chase another one and I got this shot, the sun came right back out and I would have been happier at 200 ISO.
63. and 7.1 are typical apertures I most often find myself using for BIF and other wildlife action shots.
