Greetings... my name is beaux (Bo) and I was retired from being a corporate photog and graphic designer... of course, this was back when I shot film and digital quality was not up to par for printing... unless you had $5000 to purchase a camera... and another $2000 for lenses...
So, now I am getting back in the business as a freelancer and consultant... and I am having to re-learn photography... well, the camera end of it anyway... not much has changed with lighting techniques and the balance of f-stop and shutter speed... and I suppose that composition rules still apply...
I will be posting shots as I go in an effort to get feedback from you guys... please be critical... I need the help...

While I like the composition, I am disturbed by the noise (grain) is such a shot and cannot understand why it is there. Also, you have quite a bit of CA (see the very bottom of the flower).

Thank you for your critique.... I understand the grain because this is a tight crop of a much larger image... The original was shot with a prosumer Kodak Z981... on AV setting... with AF... and a tripod.
I now have a Canon EOS T3i with 2 macro lenses... it is 18MP and in my learning shots... it does a good job on macro as long as I control the DOF...

Hi Bo, welcome to the hog. All I'm going to say is your shot is good, I like how the flower shows up. Might i add, a little cropping on the top so that just the flower and a little of the stem shows. As for the noise, i can take that as you scanned an old photo. There will always be noise. Now that you have a good camera, (i use a 60D) I'm sure the noise level will take care of itself.
