What a bunch of jackasses!!!!! The administration of this "institution of higher learning" violates their student's Constitutional rights by prohibiting firearms on university owned property even though it is not on campus. What a bunch of putzes!!!!
Typical college mentality of today.

Jackasses are those people who deem it acceptable to read into the second amendment the right to bear arms regardless of the cost in innocent lives.

30000 Americans die every year in gun related deaths, a very significant proportion could live if America followed the lead of their more civilised democratic counterparts.

The purpose of the constitution is to protect the citizens, not vice versa.

And who is to protect the citizens? NOT the police! The Supreme Court has ruled that police have constitutional duty to protect an individual. There responsibility is to protect society.

Jackass is probably the appropriate term as the icon of the democrats is an ass, presumably a Jackass since most demo in congress are male.

When the Constitution was written the musket was the weapon that was referred to.
Let us take the 2nd Amendment at its word,,, everyone should have a musket.
But of course that would never happen, the gun murder rate would fall by 95% and heaven forbid that should happen.
The gun nuts are proud of the fact that the USA, by far, leads industrialized nations in gun deaths.

Now you are quoting the NRA,, bch you are truly far out there.
They no longer care about gun owners, they are a moneyed arm of the gun manufacturers only.

Gee, I seem to be be reading it the same way the Supreme Court does!!

The purpose of the Constitution is to protect the RIGHTS of the citizens, not to protect the citizens. Sorry you are anti gun but I stick to my statement that the people from the college that are sanctioning students that live off campus and have a firearm in their residence are JACKASSES in MHO.

If you prefer the "the lead of their more civilised democratic counterparts", maybe you should consider relocating.

I do not own a gun, don't want a gun, but I stand up for the right of a USA citizen to own a gun if they please. If you are honest, you do know that the vast majority of Gun CRIMES are perpetrated with guns that the user has no legal right to have.

I went to a gun show with a gun nut friend of mine in Effingham, Illinois a couple of months ago. His main reason for being there was to purchase a "legal" magazine for a pistol he owned. He has a FOID (Firearm Owners ID) Card yet in order to purchase the magazines he wanted, he had to fill out 4 pages of ????? before he could pay and own those magazines. I can only speak for that particular Show, but it surely WAS NOT a place where you could purchase a gun illegally.

The following are three short statements I found with a cursory search on google...

In 2010, there were 19,392 firearm-related suicide deaths, and 11,078 firearm-related homicide deaths in the United States.

WhatÂ’s not well-known is that the vast majority of the approximately 12,000 annual gun murders and 66,000 non-fatal shootings are committed by people who have no legal right to a gun

The vast majority of gun crimes are committed with illegally obtained firearms. More than 95 percent of all gun related crimes in the Rochester area are committed with illegal guns according to District Attorney Mike Green. I'm sure the statistics are close to that on a national level too.

It's called the Bill of Rights (not privileges) for a reason, and the second amendment is second because of its deemed importance to a free people. It ensures that a government be forced always to recognize that the people hold the ultimate authority, and that the government is not allowed to do certain things. Unfortunately, we have stood by and accepted the erosion of many of these rights, especially during the last two administrations. It's what governments ALWAYS do. And the framers knew that.

The price of freedom is often deadly. It takes a lot of hard thought and much work to help mitigate that deadliness. But never, ever by trying to nullify the people's rights.

Typical liberal bs. The NRA is about protecting our basic freedom to own guns. If it helps the gun manufactures along the way more power to them. Obviously you are not a member of the NRA and don't know what you are talking about.
