I have a Tamron 18--270. When taken pics I keep my left hand(fingers) on the lens adjust ring. When not in use I engage the barrel lock.

Hi. My name is Rick. I’m the owner and lead technician at Discount Camera Repair and a member in good standing here at the UHH. I’ve been doing repairs for other members here at greatly discounted rates and would be glad to help.

I'd be more than happy to repair the lens for you and keep the cost as low as possible. If you’re interested, please respond by private message or simply reply to this post.

Do you work on Tamron products? Can you tighten the lens creep AND clean the internal dust build-up on a Tamron 18-250 f/3.5 for Sony lens? If so... HOW MUCH?

If you think creep is to be expected on a lens that costs $700+ then maybe, just maybe, you are buying from the WRONG manufacturer... http://onnidan1.com/forum/Smileys/classic/tiptoe.gif

Cholly, like I said, it's the price you pay, for the privilege of using the BEST !!

Super glue at any focal length and walla..You got a prime. Sorry, couldn't resist. Seriously, one member said he use his finger to hold it a whatever focal length he wants. That works quite well. If a manual focus lens.....that don't work.

Yeah...and I saw a 18-135 lens on a Canon today that has a lock slide for lens creep.

NO... My lens (Canon 24-105) is not a creep... But the zoom ring (i.e.= The mechanism Inside the lens barrel) Tends to succumb to the effects of earth's gradational "pull" and if the lens in pointed UP - on a very acute angle - it moves toward the camera. The opposite if pointed up.

Not wanting to take the lens apart (NO not even ME) and outside of the "Rubber Band Trick" (winding a wide rubber band in a "figure - 8" around the lens) --....

What other options would I have?
NO... My lens (Canon 24-105) is not a creep... B... (show quote)
I only ever had one lens that had lens creep, the Canon 28-135mm. It had it really bad, just needed a slight tilt and it started to creep something terrible. I just quit using it a long time ago.

Nikon's 28-300 has a lock similar that on the Tamron (see photo above). ;)

Yes, my Canon 70-300 L has a lock as well.

I have a 18-200 Nikon that creeps. I did use the rubber band trick KIND OFF. I used one of those bands that go around your wrist. It is wide enough and you can slide it up or down if you do not want to use it at the moment. You can get them in a lot of different colors though I have never see just black.
It works very well for me.
