I use my 60d for school sports and even shooting raw, it fires off many frames that are tack sharp when I use back button focus in alservo mode. I have. 70-200 f4L mounted and it works well outdoors but you'll have to bump the ISO up indoors. The 60d does show some noise at higher ISOs. From my research, both the 70d and 6d handle higher ISO better. My ply concern with the 6d is the lack of AF points. I struggle with that on my 60d whith a fast moving athlete. The 70d has more points for better focus. I'm waiting for the 6d to come out with more points before I upgrade.

Yeah, I agree with the focal points on the 70D. I am leaning in that direction. I know there are rumors of a 7D mkII but if they are rumors at this point then it probably won't be released until next fall and I was looking for upgrade before Christmas.

I have never seen a camera that controls the sensitivity to light other than adjusting the ISO, the rest is controlled by the lens. The ISO of 100 on the 6D is the same as on the 7D, other than the former is full frame.

I believe we were discussing fps… related to, by not entirely controlled by the lens "speed".

Yes the lens makes the difference for light. I understand that. I have a 2.8. At times though the pictures have a lot of noise which is what I was trying to avoid. Late soccer and football games as well as basketball in the gyms can be issues.

I don't know your budget, however, from my experience.
1DX>1D4>1D3>7D for sports. A good used 1D3 can be had for 1K or slightly less.

Haved used refurbished Canon 7d for past two complete HS spsorts years. I like it because
weather sealed
19 corss-type focus pts.
longer battery life
solid built
more focus pts than Y2i
Faster shutter, and
as AP-c camera get a boost when using zoom telephoto lense of Lens reach on 70-200 for practical purposes becomes 112-320 mm lense.
much of 5dIII built and systemt came from 7d and with latest upgrade, got upgraded camera...

Well please remember we are not all from the USA.

I have no idea what the T2i is not going to google it, but I use the 60D and two D7000s and if you look at my sports stuff remember it is as much about the user not hammering off 8fps for ten minutes

Sports photographers managed well with manual film wind

in Europe it is the 550D,

The number of AF points does not matter that much. After all, how many times do they focus on the wrong thing? What matters is using AI-Servo. Makes a world of difference. Have you tried that?

Have you tried back button focus? Look it up for the 6D on Youtube. It works great!

Another feature to learn! But I will give it a try. Thanks for calling it to my attention.

The 5D would be awesome but kind of out of my budget. I was looking at 6D due to the low light situation. After reading up the 6D,7D and 70D I am really starting to lean towards 70D. All my lenses would work with the 70D body and I think it work well for my circumstances.

For what it is worth, here is a review that rates the 70D as "essential" in one's consideration of a camera to buy.

You might sniff about for a used 5DII…still a remarkable full frame work horse. With the 5DIII dominating the scene I would be surprised if some nice, clean, gently used 5DII's aren't lurking about the system somewhere….This would be a giant step forward...
