Tips For Flowers

When I decide it's time to take some flower pictures, I try to get out early...or late. It's so much easier to shoot in the shade and either morning or evening has such lovely light. If need be, I create shade with my body but I really prefer not to shoot in the sun.

Best flower photos I've seen on this forum, except for mine of course. LOL

I've got more ~smile~. I usually reject flowers not at their best but the lighting for Lily was too good to pass up.

What lens did you use? macro? that lily is so sharp!

Thank you for the warm welcome. In answer to the lens question: I use a Nikon 105 VR (vibration reduction) and sometimes a monopod but usually it's hand held.

To Laura: you now know when not to shoot! Don't be afraid to clear out dead wood or any extraneous material before shooting. You aren't trying to take a snapshot - you are aiming for something artistic.
