SOLD!
Sorry, but I sold this lens awhile back and just forgot to update this post. So far in December I have sold 8 of these big Sigmas, New, used and refurbished. Inventory is dwindling. I do still have two rental lenses that I will not be selling until Sigma introduces a new USB Dock compatible version as I anticipate them doing in the Spring of 2014.
Hey MT; Will you take monthly payments????
Figured that! lol Well, will have to wait a little longer. Just purchased two (new to me) lenses and of course, a deal like this comes right afterwards. My luck!

What is the serial #? I read a review on this lens and the author said the first lens he tried was great between 150 and 400 but noticeably less sharp the closer he got to 500. He tested one a couple years later and found it sharp through the entire range. He listed the serial #'s and said the later series was sharper. I bought one of these a couple years ago and the serial # was about in the middle between the two he listed. I found my lens to be more like the earlier version with a pronounced softness around 500. Last March I was in the swamps in SC when my tripod fell over backward with the lens on a Nikon 7000. The impact broke the collar of the lens with no damage to the camera at all. The lens still works as well as before, but there is a pronounced noise to the stabilizer when it is on -- much more than before. I checked and it will cost between 325.00 and 460.00 to have it repaired. That is why I'm inquiring. If the serial # is quite a bit later than the one I own, it might be worth buying your's rather than repairing the one I have.
Thanks,
Mike
