If I were to install Nikon ViewNX 2, is that how it would be listed in Programs? Right now, I have these programs:

Nikon Message Center
Picture Control Utility
Nikon Movie Editor
Picture Control Utility

Is that what ViewNX installs, or is there a separate ViewNX program?

Sorry, Jerry. I wish I knew. I have View NX2 and there's a separate icon for the program on my desktop. But I don't know if that answers your question because I'm not computer savvy enough to answer it. :?

Wait a minute. I just checked my Control panel programs list and yes it is a separate program. Hope this helps. :-D

You can see below what I have under "Nikon."

When installed it creates it own icon. In my program list it lists as ViewNX2 alphabetically under Start, All Programs; Windows 7, Windows Explorer the path is: C\Program Files (x86)\Nikon where it is alphabetically listed with Capture, ControlPro and Message Center

If you left click on the "View NX2" folder, shown in your screenshot, a dialog box will open, right click on "Create Shortcut" and you should end up with an icon on your desktop.

Yes, I can do that, but all it does is put a folder on the desktop that leads right back to that folder on C with the Nikon Movie Editor..

Jerry, it's been a while since I had it installed, but I would fully expect to see ViewNX listed. Those you have listed are utilities installed along with ViewNX.

I think you may be missing the View NX2 Application (.exe) file. I found this file inside the View NX2 folder, and was able to create a shortcut to execute the program.

I show an install from last August, but there is an invalid character in the path, so it cannot be removed.

Jerry,
I suspect a botched install... Windows has hickups sometimes.
You may just want to go to the Nikon website and install it from there.
Once you have done that, it should allow you to then uninstall without the error in Programs and Features.
