Taken at the Arboretum with Canon SX 50. A female who was hit by a car and nursed back to reasonable health but can't fly well enough to hunt. She now lives there and poses for nature lovers and photographers.

Nice headshots. Beautiful bird. Got any of the whole bird, red tail included?

Thank you all for your kind comments. I don't have good shots of the whole bird because her wings droop and look unnatural and pitiful. I wanted to show her at her best.

I love the SX50. I don't have much experience with other cameras, but it works for me. I like the versatility, with one lens you can go from bugs to the sun and moon. And it's easy to carry around. But I'm just a hobbyist, not a pro. Pros may want a lot more camera.

Thank you - I'm not a pro either - far from it - but I am thinking of getting an SX59 for the ease of carrying around. In fact I've been thinking of it for far too long. Need to do something about it.

I don't think you'll be disappointed. But you may want to check into when the next version is coming out, it may not be far away. There are rumors that it will have a larger sensor, but I can't find any info yet.
