I have a friend who takes exquisite photos of flowers, mostly wild flowers. A bit of his technique has rubbed off on me. Here is a shot of a Gerber Daisy taken in the back yard, open shade. Rebel T3i, Sigma 18-200 IS, ISO 400, F/8 1/50. I used some black cloth for background tucked around the flower stem. PP made the background pure black. There is an ant between petals at the bottom of the image. I debated on whether to remove it or not. Picture shot in the process of testing my new T3i camera body.

Thank you and all the others who made nice comments. I'd like to make a point here. The camera is a used T3i which cost $390. The lens is a used Sigma 18-200 which cost $350 if I remember correctly. I had used it on a previous body. The point is that one can take nice clean sharp images without spending the cost of a new car on camera equipment.
All raw images require some PP sharpening. If done carefully the results can be very good!
