Day 9 -- Photo A Day Challenge - 1-9-2012

Ok...heres my day 9 but i froze my petunia off getting it! We have had 6ft9in of snow so far this year...but the tiny fishing village of Cordova has had 18feet and we have sent the national Guard to help as some people are snowed in to their homes and cant dig out...the snow is so heavy some roofs are caving in, people who need medical care cant get help, the airport is closed. And they had a rain yesterday that simply set off some avalanches making the snow even heavier. Anyway, there was some ice sculptures downtown and so heres my entry.

wow - those are beautiful! great photo of the sculptures!
I heard about cordova on the news a little while ago. It showed a guy with his head and broom out the upstairs window sweeping the snow off the roof best he could.

It's amazing how people pull together in times of crisis ... I love that they had ice sculptures ... such beauty in such a bad situation .. thank you for sharing the photos and the story

some really great photos again.....I don't have a whole lot to contribute.....yucky weather - no hawks, no eagle, no nothin' but a bunch of birds sitn in a tree on my home from work..... so I played in that Picasa program & this is what I came up with, don't laugh to hard, k. ;)
