Is a Canon 30D still a good deal at $219? I already have a T3i. Would be second/backup camera.
The last post I read on the subject was in 2012.

Comes with battery/charger/8gb CF card/card reader.
Unsure of the shutter count.
Looks in good condition.

Thanks.

SR, that wouldn't be too bad. The 20d's go for more than that.
But unless your going to put a lens on it and use it along with your Rebel, all you're gonna do is store it. Knock on wood, but in 5 years I've never needed a back-up. Not a bad idea, just that not much goes wrong with cameras these days.
When on vacation, my wife's P&S is the back-up. Unless your doing events, then it's a must.
Why don't you wait till you need it, then get one.

I can't speak on price, but you might want to look at the relative specs on the table at the bottom of this wiki page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_Canon_EOS_digital_cameras

Thanks for the replies.
And it does come with the generic 18-55 lens. I forgot that detail.
I'm hoping to get one of my kids (11yo or 12yo) to catch the photography bug.

SR, the 30 is a very fine camera. Except that it's going on 10 years old, it's actually a higher up in the line-up than your Rebel.
With a lens, it's a bargain. I know 20D bodies go for $250.
Get it if the kids will use it, and it can then be your back-up as well.
I started with a 20, it's a very nice camera.

I would say it is a good deal. I have the 30D and the 50D and they both are great cameras. They are above the rebels.
Go for it!!!!

I'm convinced, just ordered the battery grip and 2 extra batteries through amazon and a CF/SD adaptor so I can use SD cards with it.
It's funny, I went through all my old camera stuff to find a CF card. The biggest one I found was 256mb and I think I paid $60 for it years ago.

The first 1 mb of memory I purchased for a computer years ago was $40.

My first modem was 9,600 baud, around $60.

My first floppy drive was $110.

Thanks for the replies EVERYONE.
