It isn't that they don't need it - it's that they don't THINK they need it - or want it...(which is just how the rest of the nation feels!!)

Young people live forever - just ask 'em.

I'm past worrying about living forever, and I'm not eligible for Obamacare, so I'll settle for this at the moment....

It is not that the young needs Obamacare. It is Obamacare needs the young and the restless, I mean Careless, no I mean healthy. The Young and the Healthy. Who else is going to pay for us old folk. Even the middle aged and not so healthy among us has to pay. I hear this stuff ain't free, is that true?

There are currently 17 million uninsured Millennials now eligible to get health insurance through the Affordable Care Act. Only 5% of them claim they do not want or need health insurance, according to some polls.

Nobody NEEDED O'Bamacare. We had the best health care program available in the free world; they "fixed" the wrong problem. What we needed was an improved health insurance system. What we didn't need is the Fed (and/or state) Gov'm'ts controlling everything thing medical, and taxing it, along with uprooting 6% of the national economy.

The illegals, indigent poor and those that claimed they didn't need insurance had FREE (to them) medical care available; all they had to do was go to any hospital Emergency Room. They might not have gotten private rooms, but they would get the care all paid for by the 9% tax on all our medical insurance premiums!

As long as we have the system run by private insurance, hospitals, doctors and drug companies, I don't see how you can call it a government takeover.

The first big step has been taken to reverse the situation you describe. Insurance companies are already deciding how to inscribe their tombstones. Many hospitals are in dire straights. Pharmaceutical companies will probably be okay, since Obamacare most likely will not honor generics.

Isn't it the government that is having fits getting it's wonderful & helpful website up and running?

Aren't the "state exchanges" required to meet the federal standards.

Hasn't the government hired a HUGE bureaucracy to oversee O'bamacare? Including an appointed panel of non-medical personnel who will determine what procedures may be used based upon a cost-benefit analysis, which will mean rationing of care when O'bamacare is fully implemented? How do you spell Death Panel.

Even Hitler knew that the fastest way to control a country was to control it's health care system; that's why one of his first acts after gaining control was to develop a government paid health system. Those that pay the bills eventually have the control.

If you want to see what government health care really looks like take a look at Canada or England. Their costs are out of control and many of their citizens have been coming over here because they would be DEAD before their turn for medically necessary procedures was scheduled.

Finally look at the comparative cancer survivor rates for the US & Canada. That's where we are headed if the young people who voted for Hope & Change don't soon come to their senses & realize that Hope is a state of mind, not a program, and Change isn't necessarily for the better. After six years of O'bama the economy has changed for the worse since when he took over, taxes are higher and getting to be worse, and the young have a staggering unemployment rate, and our International Relations are in the tank.

The young need health insurance for the same reasons you have any insurance. In case something really baed happens. The young and healthy probably do not need health insurance that covers check-ups every six months. But insurance that covers a serios problem even with a high deductable is a wise move for the young. Otherwise a health problem that would otherwise just cost a deductable would destroy their (hopefully) long furture.
