I can understand it happening once, but a second time? You might remember the warning letter some of us got from Adobe saying that someone had hacked their computers. Today I got another.
Between September 11 and Sept 17, someone hacked customer information, including credit card info. You can relax, though, because they are investigating. Unlike the last time, they are providing a one-year membership to ProtectMyID.
This why I am glad I do not use CC. I am very glad lightroom 5 is available stand alone outside of CC offerings.
I got the same 2 letters and I ve only had adobe for 3 month I still have lightroom 5 and photoshop and all the other goodies.
Do you know what a pain in the ass it was to change all my passwords? I'm glad that I changed them two weeks ago and it's after this second debacle.

I really hate passwords, especially when a site changes its requirements - like needing a capital letter and a symbol. If I didn't use RoboForm, I'd be lost. The ideal situation would be one password for everything, with a keyboard shortcut to enter it. Alt-P, and it would be done.
Had you bitten the bullet and just bought LR5 outright, this would be a non-issue.
Dont rent the software, especially if they cant be bothered to protect your data.
Hmmmmm!!! "CC" -- = might that perhaps stand for Consumer Crap ???
I make use of Photoshop CS-5.... If I can still buy CS-6 I may.. But I am very satisfied using CS-5 for the remainder of my life.

I don't think it matters if you buy or rent. Adobe requires that you sign up with them when you register the product so that you can get updates, free cloud space, and notices. In this process they ask for an email and password. What most people do is use a common password that a cyber thief can figure out how to use on other online institutions like banks, eBay, and other online shopping sites.
