This is for all you wonderful bird photographers in sunny Florida. The Snowy Owl shows up in Oregon every 7 years or so but not always in the same location. I was lucky this year because one is in our area and has been in the same spot for a few weeks now. These Owls are being seen across the northern part of the country. Getting one in flight is pretty special, had to take the shoes off and wade across the pond in order to get close enough to get it to fly. As most of you know it is like trying to take a picture of a light bulb. Camera settings were P mode with exposure down -1.25. Using a Canon Rebel T2i. My lens is a old rebuilt Canon 75-300 IS. Borrowed a Canon 100-400 IS and took many pictures from the same spot without any better results, feels good to be saving $1200 bucks or so.

Great subject. Especially like the Owl in flight against the dark green. We also have a Snowy Owl in north central Oklahoma. I photographed a few days ago. I will share the photo only if you request. Thanks for sharing your excellent photos.

This snowy owl is in south central Oklahoma. Farmers in the area state that it has been coming for 3 or 4 years, comes in December stays for several weeks before it leaves. Several years ago one was being sighted east of Sooner Lake. This is over 400 miles south of where they usually winter. My friend has a photo of it taken on an overcast day when the owl had its eyes wide open. You can tell that the Bright sun is making it squint.

I have committed to Monday, the weather looks 50/50 for rain but you never know. The Owl might not be on the same log, it is just a good chance it will be. Sorry it will not work out for you.
