During the game you should be able to get a few ones...just so they have a choice...posed v/s action.

That's a nice action shot, Bret. Cool, got the ball right in the web of the glove.

Sorry for acronym-speak; PEDs -- Performance Enhancing Drugs

Yeah, I think the kids will love the cards, especially so if they're the real deal. It will be a nice end of season wrap up.

Thanks, Jerry

Thanks for the bracket/parentheses tip

Ah, yes - those drugs that no one in sports takes. If you look at athletes from the 1950's and compare them with athletes of today, you have to figure it's more than weight lifting that's making them so big. If everyone does it, it must be OK.

I'm shooting some photos of LL baseball game tomorrow. Where Skittles are the only P.E.D.s. My friend, the coach, found out that you can have Topps, (THE) baseball card guys, same ones that do MLB) make cards for LL players too. They do stats and everything--just like the real deal.

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone had thoughts around the best type of photo shot or pose. I know this won't stir the pot and raise the hackles like some of the Canon vs. Nikon debates, but...I'd like to ask opinions on Action Shots vs Posed Shots.

Action Shots, during the game--subject unaware, candid, not staged
vs
Posed Shots, eye contact w/ camera-bat on shoulder, fielding stance, pitch wind up, etc.

As I recall from my baseball card trading/little league days there were 5 basic poses:

The "fielders" position with person square to the camera, legs spread...mitt and hands lowish like he's going to field a grounder.

The "batters" position with the person on one knee with a bat being held like a cane.

The "standing batters box" pose where a person is looking into the camera as if the camera is a pitcher and they are in the batters box...ready to hit.

The "pitchers" position as if the picture is going to pitch to the camera.

The "catchers" position as if the camera is pitching to the catcher.

That's all I recall.

These kids are thinking they are like the big leagues. So, study some big league cards for ideas on posing. The cards should feature the player, in more of an individual pose than on the field.

Yesterday I told you about templates, this is the best template mader on the net. I buy 1000s of them you name it I have it. Check it out here. http://www.ebay.com/sch/fdimage/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_ipg=&_from=
You wanted mate cards it in there and then some.
A way you can make big money is make up 5 mate cards for each player. (on your home printer) And give it to each player for FREE. Give back what you take and it will come back to you. 10 what ever and more. PASS IT ON!

By the way you don't have to use Topps or go to Topps to get sports cards, or sports card templates.
If you take a look at Kim Kunkel's website "Easy Digitals" she has a great many templates you can easily use, and the key word is easily if you have a team to shoot. http://easydigitals.com/
The age group will determine which shots are the preferred ones, the older the players will usually choose the poses and settings they wish vs younger players, where parents choose or want to choose the shots for cards.
You can also take a look at MPIX or Millers they offer sports cards, front and back http://www.mpix.com/products/sportsproducts/phototradercards
I agree if you want pure shots i.e. fielding batting make the best shots vs posed shots.
