first on ebay look under sony/minolta lenses. second in the discription make sure it saya for somy/minolta's. and now for the best advice of all, skip ebay their prices are too high and you never know who you are dealing with. Go directly to KEH.com better prices on used, excellant reputation with the BBB and reseller ratings, free 6 month warranty on the used stuff they sell (except for as is) and they are very conservative with their ratings. ive gotten cameras and lenses from then rated bgn and ugly that looked flawless. they do their own repair work and the stuff they sell comes all cleaned up. look under sony/minolta digital and minolta autofocus. if you can live without auto focus you can find some steals on great g;lass in minolts manual focus. Im a nikon guy, I found great deals on nikon, i assume it would be similar fro minolta gear.

It must be a Minolta or Sony "A" mount.
Check out Tamron 10-24mm F/3.5-4.5 Di II.

I support Sinatraman in this statement. I have never seen a deal on eBay worthy of my money. This is simply my experience. If yours was better, that's good.
I've had far more success on used equipment on CraigsList. At least I get to meet the seller fact-to-face and I can hold the merchandise in my hand before making the decision to buy. I've bought 2-3 lenses this way and in every case, I mounted the lens to my camera and tried it before making the deal.
I have bought on eBay a few lens with return policy and have never been burned. I would not buy unless they had a return policy. Many times on eBay you get retail stores trying to reduce over inventory or old stock and you can get a good bargain. I always deal through PayPal just in case there is a problem.

I rarely have problems buying on ebay. I have found a lot of great deals. If you see a lens you like, simply ask the seller. Give him details about your camera. They should be able to give you an answer. I always check the seller's ratings and return policy before I buy.
Look for Minolta AF lenses or Sony Alpha Lenses. Minolta MC and MD lenses need an adaptor and they will always manual focus. "Sony A Mount" is becoming a popular designation.

i had a nikon fe sold to me on ebay. the seller saifd it was in great like new shape. and the body was, the shutter however was frozen shut. the seller wouldn't refund my money but said he donated it in my name to chaarity. sure, he did. ebay used to be a bargain but now since business took over its caveat emptor. when i was searching for my d-100 which i eventualy bought from keh for 169.00 i looked over nightly the prices of nikon equip on amazon, ebay adorama and keh. the lowest prices by far was keh. one seller on ebay wanted 500 for the same camera. ebay averaged 225-400 adaroma wanted 225-300. keh had several for 169- 200 plus free 6 month warranty. plus reliable reputation with bbb. plus in house repair center with quick turn around time. more example on another thread someone mentioned a nikon lens that ken rockwell realy loves. on adorama and amazon used ones can be found 99-125. on keh 50-60. I simpley will not buy used gear anywhere else.
On the eBay thing, did you use Paypal for the transaction? You can contest it with Paypal and they refund your money. Even eBay will step in on your behalf if you reported it to them.
