Obama and the Democrats in the Senate seem to be saying, "Surrender, then we can negotiate", as usual they have things backwards. The House did it's part, if they want to change it then they should quit holding the country hostage, pass the temporary spending bill, and then negotiate the final legislation. The Democrats are so incredibly disingenuous it's mind boggling.

Who in their right mind would give in first and than negotiate?

Who in their right mind would trust BO?

No lies, exactly, but some out of context cherry-picking. For example, the Park Rangers who are there to secure the parks (obvious liability issues-not mentioned). Also I think it would require substantially fewer people to secure the sites than it would take to actually run them and provide for the various services that are normally offered.

I would also point out that the Republicans forced this issue (I am not alone in this view--see the current polling on this issue) but they pulled this stunt without really considering the consequences. Now they are trying to back-pedal by piecemiel funding the parts of the government that people actually like. They are responding to political heat. It turns out that it is quite easy to hate the government in the abstract--not so easy to win the argument on the level of day to day reality.

The GOP attempt to blame the Democrats is both ludicrous and pathetic-and is only fooling the true believers.

Let the insults an vulgarity begin--after all, I am again disagreeing with the right-wingers who dominate this space.

This article explains a lot of who actually shuts down the government.

All maybe true, but when you shut the government there are consequences. You do not get to cherry pick what you want closed.

As for others funding the parks, there are liability questions that arise.

Next time do not try to hold the office of the Presidency hostage - regardless of President!

Do not try to hold the American people hostage over an ideological issue - all may if not in this case most- do not agree with you!

But they did cherry pick!

In my 33 years of active motorcycle Touring on my Gold Wings, I have been in 37 of the 59 National Parks... some great large places, some barely bigger than a single building.

In a great number of them, including "Arches" "Zion" "The "Grand Canyon-both sides" "Bryce" there is very very minimal Park Ranger presence. Zion has a park ranger at the East entrance and one at the camp grounds. Bryce has one at the entrance, Arches has one at the entrance, etc... Finding them standing around watching our every move just isn't there.

The vast majority of these parks could and for all intents and purposes do survive with little or no Park Ranger interference.

When the Republicans in the House have passed a temporary spending bill (less Obamacare funding) and the Democrats in the Senate refuse to pass it, why is that the Republicans fault? Oh yeah, because thaat's what the media told you to think, sorry I forgot.

I love this guy, always have. He speaks the truth and the liberals don't like it that he's a conservative and highly educated black man, too bad. He speaks the truth here, but the liberals who only listen to the left wing media will not accept it, despite as he says, it's all on the record, not believing it is simple not believing provable facts.

You are confusing "negotiation" with "extortion". If you do not like Obamacare, then win some elections. There is a normal and proper way to repeal a law you do not like. This is not it. I know you right wingers would take to the barricades if the Dems shut down the government until they got gun control legislation, wouldn't you? But because the senate cannot be gerrymandered, and Obama won the last election by a pretty wide margin, you are on the wrong side of the national body politic.

Win some elections and stop whining.
