This was an attempt to salvage a photo that didn't work on its own merits. The one time I had bluebirds in my yard, and I botched all of the shots. With some tweaking, I got an artsy rendition of one. See what you think.

Now that is really nice Vicky. You turned a defeat into victory, so to speak.
Hey,image this hung on a wall in a frame and matte!

Thanks Pierre. Well, it IS different. I'm not sure about hanging it. It looks more like a design for fabric or wallpaper.

You're going to get a lot of interesting opinions on this one, Vicki! For me, the colors and subject matter call for a softer approach. I envision dreamy watercolor.

Good idea Linda. Maybe I'll go back and try that approach. On this one all I did was push the sharpness to the max. When I have some time, I'll play with it more. Initially, I wasn't sure it was worth doing.

I like it! Very colorful with the berries and the bird's contrasting color, and I like the textured approach you used. Nice!

Thanks for the vote of confidence Randy. I don't have some of the bells and whistles that you use, but I may try some of my other special effects as Linda suggested. I think this one would tolerate a lot of experimentation.

Thanks Gabe. I'm glad you think so. This was kind of a last ditch effort.

Yes, I like it very much. Intentionality and chance play a big part in my attempts, as sometimes you have to take advantage of what is given you by chance. But that works for oil painters too, I think, like Jackson Pollack and others

The quote "When life gives you lemons, make lemonade" comes to mind. I felt like that's what I was doing with this one. The trouble was, I didn't even know I was trying to capture a bluebird until I downloaded it. Hope there's another opportunity with better light and less wind - did I say it was incredibly windy and the poor bird was struggling to perch on the pepper tree?

Glad you liked it.

It was too bad I wasn't able to get a good shot of the bluebird pair. The sun had just gone down, and it was incredibly windy. Both birds struggled to stay in the tree. I got a few out of focus shots of them in flight, but this one with the pepper "berries" seemed to have the most potential.

Version 3 works for me. I don't particularly care for the overly noisy first picture. Version 3 eliminates the noise and is quite a bit sharper. The muted background works well and I like the high contrast between berries and background. Nice work.

Hi Vicksart! My favorite is version 3. I did this with a botched photo of a great blue heron. It made me feel better
