It may appear a silly question but have you looked at the disks that came with the camera?
I use Canon and there is a whole load of software on a disk and downloadable from the Canon site - there is a good chance that Nikon has similar.

I just downloaded this after reading your post, looks great looking forward to testing it out over the weekend, love the idea of live view on the monitor, photo stacking & stuff. I also downloaded Control my Nikon the other day that I'll put up against it. what I like from just reading is the motion detection on the CMN.

That's why I'm looking at Control My Nikon for about 25 Aussie bucks.
I use Lightroom, it has a great tether feature.

I was trying that last weekend but it wouldn't let me turn live view on on the camera for some reason, gotta admit I'd had a few beers & didn't spend any time on it. Does it give live view ? D7000 ???
