For those who already know the Fuji X camera experience this will be interesting, and for those who are wondering why people love their X100S....this might explain it.

And for those who are wondering if it's worth laying out the cash for one...this will put you over the edge :)

David Hobby in Tokyo talking about the X100S experience.

Liked that. 'just walking around taking pictures', and thoughts on women, mentors and learning technical things.
Have you seen Zack Arias' 'Declares DSLR to be Dead' video? I was going to post it here at UHH when it first came out, but didn't want to start a rumble. Besides I weary of the 'vs DSLR' thing which Fuji even uses on their website. It is a interesting video though.

Yes, I've seen it...I like Zack. He does use hyperbole and then goes on to more carefully define what he means..but what I find is that many people zero in on that statement and take it to mean that he thinks that they can throw their DSLR's away today because Zack said that they aren't useful anymore.

But if they were to read what he says...he's just stating that he thinks that the day when you need to haul around a giant DSLR to get good quality images is over...you can do that with the Fuji X cameras.

Everyone knows that they won't replace a DSLR..it's apples and oranges....two different uses, and two different sets of expectations.

They are great cameras....I have the X100S and the X-Pro1 and love them both.

The X100S?

Yes, it's hard to find. You just have to get on a few waiting lists...there are a few places that get them pretty fast:

Amazon has some coming Oct 9...get on their waiting list and have it shipped via 2 day....

Digital Rev in Hong Kong has them (Japan version) and they ship pretty fast

I bought mine at ProPhoto in OR...they were great about letting me know when one was in...

As for what I don't like?

No mirrorless camera focus' as fast as a DSLR...that's a fact.

If you need that, look at a DSLR.

Other than that...I love it.

Thanks for the info, now if i can find one. Maybe it was a blessing that my K5 with a 24-70-2.8 was stolen, it was a beast. I am not sure that i could even hold it up now with my arthritis, it's so bad i can only use my right hand now. I only do close up stuff and street stuff so the x100s looks to be the one. Thanks again.

You are right; the X100S is much lighter than the Xpro1 and it's great for the street.

It's so light, and the short focal length coupled with the "no mirror slap" makes hand holding 1/15 sec shutter speeds doable. (and I'm very shakey)

It's an amazing camera, so much fun to use.

PopPhoto is another great place to get one and they usually have them when no one else does.

Actually, I am finding that the OMD E-M5 is focusing faster than any of the DSLR's I have had. This will depend somewhat on the lens design of course. It is amazing how good and compact the various mirrorless designs have become.
