It's the Dems that are holding everything up, a 1 year delay is all they have to agree to, if Ocare is so good why aren't they letting everybody ask for it instead of ramming it down our throats?

"Ramming it down our throats"???? It is the law of the land, passed by a majority of both houses and signed into law by the president. The majority has spoken, and the Supreme Court found that it is Constitutional. This is nothing but sour grapes. Besides - it is about Americans getting access to health care and taking responsibility for the costs of their care. What's the downside? And the Republicans had no alternatives to propose when this started, and they still don't. Their health care plan: "sorry, go home and die".

Also check out state parks, they won't be effected, towns around the park should be good too, there is a good car museum in Seal Cove if it's open, boat trips should still be running, got me thinking now, BTW just got an ad from Weathervane restaurant if your into seafood check them out,
Bob.

Thanks. Those all sound like good ideas and my husband is really looking forward to the seafood so we will checkout Weathervane.

And - are you driving or flying? If you are driving (or flying into Portland), you will come through Portland, and up the coast, and so there will be lots to see. Freeport (home to LL Bean!), the Pemaquid Peninsula and its' famous lighthouse, the Portland Head Light in South Portland, etc. If you are flying into Bangor, concentrate on Bar Harbor, Mt Desert Island, and points downeast. As posted - unless they have barricades up, you can go into the park other than the main road and there will not be official gates to keep you out. An in Bar Harbor you can still get the schooner cruises, whale watch tours, sea kayaking, and other fun activities!

We are driving so will definitely take your route suggestions. Would love to photograph whales up close. Wish that would happen. Thanks for taking the time to give ideas.

Although I think there are more chances to see whales in other places (Alaska in the summer, Hawaii in January, Baja in winter, etc.), there are quite a few whales that summer in the Gulf of Maine - humpbacks, minke, right whales, and others. They are usually here until early October, when they, like half the population of the state, head to Florida and other points south! If you have the time from Bar Harbor a whale-watch cruise might still let you see some whales, but would also let you see some fabulous coastline, seals, etc. Have a fun trip - if you are heading out soon I have to say the weather has been absolutely spectacular and the trees are beginning to turn down along the coats (have reached their peak inland).

Headed out today. Think it will be a three day drive more or less (more if hubby drives, less if I drive) or if we get side tracked. Can't wait to hit the road.
