I searched the archived information and didn't find what I was looking for. I am looking for a comfortable shoulder strap for a D800. I have a CLR shoulder strap that is comfortable but I don't like how it attaches to the bottom of the camera. Is there any strap that the UHH group likes that doesn't attach to the tripod screw?

You might also consider their sling strap which puts the weight on your Shoulder rather than your neck.
I purchased one form B&H Photo not long ago . I is a Capturing Couture. They have lots to choose from. I will post some pictures. The neck area is padded and very soft. It dose not itch your neck, Lot of styles to too choose express your self.I am going to get one for my D7100 soon. Hope it helps . Good luck about $ 40.00 But worth it.

D, this comes up here a lot. And the same straps get mentioned, over and over. Why don't you just modify your stock strap. It'd be pretty easy to do, so as long as your just trying to carry one camera.
Good luck. SS

I have an optech on my 3100 and it really makes the camera lite, really good straps
dhaywood, I used the Canon strap that came with my cameras for years and I never liked them. I found an over the shoulder strap that is strong, reliable, very functional, and keeps the camera safe and ready at all time. It gives your neck a rest. It is made in two different stiles, one for men and one for women. I bought it at B&HPhotovideo, in New York. I carried my canon on my side, with an extra battery pack, all day long for a week at Disney. Many people asked me where I got it and the cost. It cost about $50.00. Only one draw-back,if you do not purchase the extra mounting plate for the camera, you will have to remove the strap to set you camera up on a mono pod or tri pod. The name of the strap is a JOBY UltraFit Sling Strap. Please take the time to go to the web site and check it out.
http://joby.com/camera-straps/ultrafit-sling-strap-for-men/ I feel it was worth every penny and then some!
dhaywood, Please leave me a message as to what you think of the JOBY UltraFit Sling Strap. I had no problems with it and you don't even know you are carrying a camera. Good luck :)

Hi dhaywood, I use the Black Rapid Curve with my D7100. I really like it because it lets the camera hang to your side and on a longer lens it will point down at about a 45 degree angle. The lens stays out of the way and doesn't bang into things. Here's the link.

I suggest you consider two issues.
What it does in pain to you neck
How many cameras or binoculars etc you want to carry at once.
I have found that using a strap that allows you to spread the load equally on both shoulders with the camera on your chest (I have an OP/Tech USA one) considerably reduces neck strain and also has the option of hanging two cameras or a camera an binocular one above the other which is often convenient. They are available in the UK as well as USA

Optek sling strap works great for me. I can wag around my D7000 with a 70-300 on it all day long. Easily adjusted and one smooth motion bringing the camera up to your eye.

I second, or is it third or fourth, the OP/TECH sling straps. They come in different widths depending on the weight of your set up, connect to the strap lug on the side of your camera and are length adjustable. I use the double strap model and it lets me carry two Nikon D3s cameras, a long f2.8 zoom and a 135 f2 all day and I am old and weak. I think their products are great and their prices quite competitive. Good luck with your search.
