Recently purchased a Nikon D5200. We travel a lot. What recommendations, if I want to carry one lens?

I like the 18-200mm. Of course it does depend somewhat on where you're going and what you're shooting. Anything bigger and heavier would be a nuisance. The wide end is good for getting in urban scenery.
Thanks, Jerry
I borrowed a Nikkor 70-300 and it does seam a little heavy at the end of the day

I have the TAMRON 18-270, it does a pretty good job.

You do not tell us what type of photos you shoot. There is no one lens that will do everything. Years ago when you purchased a new camera, it came with a 50mm prime lens and everyone was happy. Many were fast, F1.8. Now everyone must have a slow super zoom, and complain when they do not get good pictures.

Hey Doc ..... I suggest a two lens option ..... for traveling weight becomes factor ..... 18-55 VR kit and a 55-200 VR kit ..... less weight and 1/3 the cost ..... and you could even throw in a 35mm f1.8 for low light and have money left in ya pocket .....
the 18-200 makes a D5200 front heavy while the 55-200 does not .....

I have had the D5200 for a couple of months. My husband bought me the Nikor 18-200 a few weeks ago and I love it! I haven't used any of my other lenses since I got it.

A good strap is key, I like the OpTech Sling.

That's funny, I bought all 3 of these lenses for my D5200, quite pleased!
