Hi my name is Kathy. I am an amateur, just-for-fun photographer. My personal camera is a Nikon P5100 - I'm still a point-and-shoot kind of girl.
I work for a screenprinting company - display-type work, not apparel. In the past, we sent customers printed press proofs of their parts. The "latest thing" to move jobs along quickly is a "photo proof." Sometimes this is of the film positive set up on the actual part (see Global Mono... attached), sometimes art screened on a physical part (see DSCN attached - not concerned about type shadows - inherent w/clear acrylic - as long as text is clear/legible).
I have been using my personal camera for taking photo proofs - usually using no flash (material is often too reflective), macro setting - then optimizing contrast and downsizing in Photoshop to email to client. My camera's card door is growing weary of constantly being opened and closed. If shopping for a personal camera, I would take much more time, but we need this in the next week or so.
We want to purchase a point-and-shoot camera that will be the "company camera."
It needs:
1. Good optical zoom for small type and/or detail.
2. Easy to use (anyone in company can use).
3. EASY transfer of images to our server (where only 1 or 2 people will edit if necessary and email to clients). Would prefer cable option in addition to card reader to reduce wear and tear on card door/latch. Thought of WiFi, but not necessary to keep price point down.
4. Decent battery life.
5. Under $300 price point (maybe even under $250?).
Obviously, not looking for top of the line anything. But needs to give good, clear representation of detail and color. Customers do NOT approve color matching from photos, but blue should look blue if you know what I mean.
Any quick advice appreciated. Thanks! - Kathy
P.S. I'll post more about "me" and my photography later. :)

I highly recommend the Panasonic ZS7 P&S or the equivelment of the new model... Excellant , excellant camera...
Looks nice, but price point is way too high for what we need. Thank you, though!
Panasonic SZ-3 currently at Walmart for under $150. 10x zoom and good "macro" mode for closeups. I have the older SZ-7 and get great results.
Look for a refurbished Fuji X10. It will do everything you need.

This is a good question to bring to a good old-fashioned (non-chain) camera store. They can help you out and actually let you test out some cameras. For years I have used a little P&S Sony Cybershot to take macro images of skin cancers, rashes, etc., in my office. It does an excellent job with the Macro images and is easy to use - so I am sure you will find a good P&S camera that will meet your needs.
Look at the Sony HX200 or HX300.
Welcome to UHH. Look at the Canon SX50
Welcome to UHH! I use the Sony P/S in my signature and love it.
