I am looking for an all-in-one printer that produces really good photo prints up to 8 X 10. I have had an HP 300 series for several years which I was really satisfied with. When the printer head went out I replaced it with an HP 7520. I have had a number of problems - returned it for another of the same model and spent hours on the phone with HP techs with no resolution. I am ready to take it back and get something that works well and produces really good prints. I also need to be able to print at least draft quality documents.
I would appreciate any suggestions.

I like the pictures printed on my HP C5280 and Canon iP4500, but I'm not making a living selling them. I think everyone likes the quality of the pictures they print. I would rely on reviews done by professionals, people who do this for a living. They will look at several printers and tell which is better at what. You have to consider the cost of printing, too, and reviews will usually mention that.

You might also consider a printer that prints on discs. My C5280 does that, and it's much nicer than scribbling on it with a marker.

Hi,
Canon makes their Pixma 100 series of printers, I have the 100 series that makes prints up to 13" by 19". I simply love this printer the colors are brilliant and using on Canon luster paper makes it even better.
My 2 cents worth :-)

Many thanks to those of you who took the time to offer your suggestions. The information online is overwhelming, so your real life observations were helpful. I have it narrowed down to either an Epson or a Canon, but not sure of which model.

In addition to all the info your budget will be a determining factor. Printers are relatively cheap but as I have mentioned many times they get you on the INK . I use a Canon Pro 9000 Mark II and for my needs it is fine . I am not a professional but still want the best quality photos possible ..

Just read a review that rated the HP 8600 top dog for all in one printers. I use Epson Artisan 837. Very fast for 8x10's and documents.
Can't seem to get it to print colors as edited on laptop, but I suspect it is not a printer issue, more like operator malfunction. Lol

I agree about the Epson Artisan. I had used all-in-one printers for years, but when I saw/used the Artisan I changed my opinion completely. I bought a Canon scanner and the Artisan and am very happy with the results. Total investment was less than $450 including spare ink.

(The reason I wanted the scanner was that I have many 75-year old negatives and 100-year old photos and no darkroom.) Many of my old negatives have large areas of plain black, and the Artisan's ability to print those cleanly, without spots or ripples, sold me on the multiple-cartridge approach. Their pico- jet nozzles are super, and are very conservative with ink flow.

Epson all the way. I have had Canon, HP, Lexmark, and the Epson shames them all. I have 13 x 19 prints that I printed and had professionally mounted on my wall. Right now I have 2 Epson printers, a R380 for 'general' stuff and a Stylus Photo R2880 for photographs. Scott Kelby and the Photoshop guys all use Epson.
