New Here and Wanting to Learn

Hello everyone. My name is David Norris and all my friends call me Dave so everyone feel free with either one.
I am a fairly new photographer and trying to learn as I go, so I am trying to join places like this to get some advice and tips as well. My favorite kinds of photos is Landscapes and the Watery ones are truly my favorites. I own a Nikon D3100 and like it for the most part. I started off with a Fujifilm Finepix camera that seems to me like really took great photos but I wanted the Bigger Zoom Lens so I went out and got the D3100 last tax season. Not sure I am fully impressed with it to be honest and I am looking maybe to upgrade this upcoming tax season.
I live in Western NC and looking forward to the Leaf Season when all the leaves turn to their beautiful colors. I figured out last year that those colors that I see are very difficult to duplicate I know that for sure. I think alot of folks that do not take photos think its alot easier than it really is most of the time.

Welcome Dave! I love western NC, very beautiful year round. We're going up to the Smokies in a couple of weeks to see and photograph the fall. Hope you have fun here!

I am looking at upgrading my Nikon N80 to a Nikon Digital. Since I have several lens, and a Nikon Coolpix 995, I am looking for a
Nikon SLR digital. I am an active photographer, (not professional) and simply enjoy taking pictures.
Any suggestions?

Hello and thanks for the welcome everyone I sure appreciate the kindness.
I loved my Fujifilm Finepix S4250. It took great photos I think. And now they even have these cameras with a lot more zoom for your bucks up to 42x I believe I have seen. That's compared to the 30x that I had. Not sure what to tell you on cameras, but seems like I could do a little better for my money that the Nikon D3100.

Welcome to UHH Dave. If you are serious about upgrading check out the Nikon D7100, great camera. I have one and have no regrets. Don't know what your budget is but Nikon is running a sale right now for the D7100 and 2 lens. Maybe just kit lens for $1,729.95, just saw it about 30 minutes ago in an email from "The Nikon Store". Just a word of caution, whatever you buy do your homework before you purchase. Enjoy the forum.
