I don't think Surrealism is what you mean as there isn't much unnerving or illogical about this image. To be frank, there really isn't anything interesting happening. What did you hope would be the focal point?

From a processing standpoint the water and the roof look nice. The sky just isn't appealing. The fringing along the edges of the grey building doesn't lend anything to making it look like a painting. The buildings on the right are so over sharpened they lose the photographic precision Surrealism strives to achieve, although the image should print better than it looks here.

I don't think Surrealism is what you mean as there... (show quote)

Perhaps surrealism wasn't the proper term. Art certainly is subjective isn't it.

I don't typically do any post processing, but I wanted to see what I could achieve on this one. I wanted a blend of reality mixed with a touch of surrealism. Thoughts?

Good fun! It works! Thoroughly enjoy the picture!

Other than the subject boats being modern, this looks a lot like one of the Old Masters' paintings.

I really like your shot, Greg. I quite often will do stuff like this - especially if the original wasn't up to snuff. In fact, some forgettable photos turned out very well on post processing and have become among my favorites. Maybe I'll post a few one day.
