So just what exactly does this mean, then?

Sure sounds like race-baiting to me.

If we euthanized all posters from Vancouver Island without the mental capacity to post coherently, we'd have a better thread. Just my "popular" opinion.

Bram Boy---you are way off the topic. You are not talking about film photography which was the main subject of this discusion. You are not talking about digital photography either any more. Please take your rantings to another site!

oh and one more thing . it's all unfolding as it was ment to our feeble brains think we can fix it or control it , well if that happens that's the way it was supposed to be . if we were only supposed to have a short history like the dinnasour. that's what we will get . actually the dinos will have had a lot longer stay than we could ever hope to . I'll have to look it up but Dino has got use beat a few million years already .

oh now I see what you think when I was writing that I wrote the second part not even correlatting the first part . if I was to keep going I would have wrote
clean up crime rate by handing out jail terms . not a slap on the wrist . if you want to stop drunk driving , life in jail if you kill some one or hang , drunk driving an kill no one lose licence for life , speeding over the limit by 10mi per hr, $1000 fine . how many of those would you get before you slowed down by saying no to any one of these means your are condoning it . people would learn . but it's a given that the law makers and thoes in power know all this , they want the drunks on the road . they want people to die . as long it's not there kid's or kin folk .. and when it gets two many people here simply have a war . you have now idea of what goes on behind closed doors .

I just don't see the point 'why' you can go digital and buy a eight gig. sandisk 30mb per sec. for same price and take hundereds of pic. put them on
a cd . erase your sandisk and do again and again and again . I can go through disk any time I want . see a pic that I would like on the wall, print it out. using film is like staying with VHR or Bata tapes . reel to reel tape recorders ,
rear projection tv. or driving model T at 25 mph on the free way . and the real
ball buster is that film cost way way more than digital , in every way
I just don't see the point 'why' you can go digi... (show quote)

I have BW negatives my father shot in the 30's and Kodachrome slides he shot in the '50s. All in good condition. My negatives, both BW and color, and slides I shot from the 60' on are still in good condition and printable/viewable. How many burnable CDs or DVDs or hard drives or data tapes, etc will be usable in 50 or 60 or more years? Ever try to find something to read a 8" floppy disc? Or even a 5 1/4" floppy? Good luck!

Film has the potential for a much longer life stored cool and dry than does digital stuff, unless it is refreshed periodically. Film needs no refreshing, and can always be read by anyone with a pair of eyes.

What is the story with this forum? As you can tell I'm new on the scene, but the comments by Bramboy or whoever he is on this thread bother me. No one is asking him to shoot film. I shoot both film and digital. I don't rag on digital folks unless they jump me. If Bramboy doesn't want to shoot film so be it! but why clog up what had been a nice, friendly thread. Please tell me that this sort of hijacking behavior is rare??

And in the "Chat Room": OMG, if politics or religion come up its wall to wall flamers! What ever happened to civil discussion, polite disagreements? Several "contributors" to that area don't seem able to post much without making personal attacks of the sort which, in person, might earn them a poke in the nose. One offender has started over a hundred threads, only one of which is directly related to photography. PentaxForums finally abolished the Politics and Religion section of their forum because of the ad hominem attacks verging on slander, and another forum REQUIRES that users post under their real name to avoid such nastiness.

Sorry about the rant! Back to the topic.

I've enjoyed Kentmere 100 and 400 in 35mm, and also Ilford in 35mm and Foma makes some nice BW in 120. I have 100 feet of Tri-X, T Max 100 and Provia in my freezer, along with a lot of 35mm C 41 film that Porter's sold before their sad demise. Freestyle in California has been my mainstay in buying film, since local sources have virtually dried up. So far I've been souping the BW and sending color out; I plan to fire up the Besler 23 and do some BW printing. Thus far I've scanned negatives and had the files printed locally, Costco has done good work.

I may do E 6, I did Ektachrome in the past. It's just such a PITA to maintain the temperatures. Same story for C 41.

I prefer to shoot slide film - Velvia 50 / 100. I also have a stock pile of the new discontinued Provia 400. (That's horribly sad to me they discontinued it.)

I don't care much for shooting color negatives.

For B&Ws, Kodak T-max and Ilford (Delta, FP4, PanF, HP5) give me a lot of great 'flavors'.
