I'm new here and this may have already been discussed, or perhaps I've missed an existing section. I imagine that many of us shoot film and digital. Any chance of starting a section devoted to film shooting and darkroom practice, both color and BW, and in all formats? I'd imagine that many newcomers to film would have a lot of questions, and those of us who shot alongside Matthew Brady could furnish some help. No need to re-invent the wheel! :)

I can't believe that we don't have a section for film. I agree, there should be.

You might want to e-mail Administration about this, there are a lot of film shooters out there, I would be interested to hear what they say.

George, welcome to the Hog.
Personally, I don't think there are that many here that shoot film exclusively. Since most are primarily digi shooters, but used to shoot film, you may loose the imput and participation of all those that used to, but no longer shoot film.
I for one, would never go there. But I realize, it's not about me.
Go for it. SS

I imagine that exclusive film shooters go to APUG.org, but from what I've seen on various other fora lots of folk shoot both.

I'm gonna get the old OM10 out, and dust it off, or pressure wash it, whatever it needs. And, get some good B&W film, and use it just for black and white.

Got to check out APUG, never heard of them. Thanks

Film....what's film?

:)

I'd welcome a film area for nothing more than learning something that I know nothing about.

Individual users can start their own sections. That said user that opens/begins one is responsible for it. I'd check with admin for more. http://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-1-1.html#305265 . Rules...at bottom...User-Managed Sections.

Great idea!!

I still shot a lot of film. I love both the look of various films and the whole experience of shooting film. I know quite a few other people who also still shoot film when they can.

I recently stock piled a large batch of the now discontinued Fuji Provia 400 slide film. It's sad to see such an important film go bye-bye.

Id be happy with a film area because what little about film does get talked about, gets trolled by some rather terrible comments.

Would be nice to have a safe area to talk about our "obsolete processes" without people coming in to take a steamy pile of dookie on and call us out as useless and terrible.

Good to see some interest! Since the originator of a section is in a sense its moderator, is there anyone interested in that job? Give it some thought. I'm going to think about it. Just imagine the power, adulation, dancing girls, blah, blah, blah....

Yes, would love to see a section for film. I learned with film and have been toying with shooting it again. I love my DSLR camera, but I think I'm getting lazy, could use some skill refreshening! Shot a roll not long ago, after each shot I kept looking down at the back of the camera to see how it came out!

I hear you loud and clear! There's a troll who's been trying to wreck a current thread on folks' favorite film. After his initial spew he's said nothing about film, just disconnected ravings. I wish he'd go back to whatever primal muck he emerged from.

Excellent idea. I shoot about 90% film, both B/W & color print. I love using the older cameras, Argus C3's& others using 35mm, & Ciroflex, Ikoflex, Agfa/Ansco for 120. Looking forward to it.
