What is better than the Canon SX50 for a little more money

I am looking to buy a camera to replace a Sony DSC-HX20 with one that shoots RAW. I do not want an interchangeable lens camera. The Canon SX50 is my choice so far. It appears to be the best in comparisons in
http://snapsort.com/compare/Canon-PowerShot-SX50-HS-vs-Sony-Cyber-shot-DSC-HX20V/specs. I am willing to spend more Money and I am open to recommendations. The SLRs appear to be better in some respects but non have Image stabilization. I want the benefit of very high zoom, which I get now on the HX20, but the Canon SX50 is better. I want very high quality images that equal the SLRs and not the burden of multiple lenses.

You will not find better bang for your buck than the Canon SX50. Anybody that has one loves it. $400.00 well spent. It won't equal a DSLR and a L series lens but how much money do you want to spend?

Francis, I enjoy my SX-50 more than any camera I've owned. Great for what many might call 'normal' use, and when you really want to get serious with zoom, raw, etc. it's got what you need. I have not used any of my DSLR equipment since buying the SX-50... no need to!

I've had my SX-50 for a month now and I'm still finding new things about it. Image quality is great, controls are easy and mostly intuitive, stabilization is super. Battery life is very good, and it's lightweight but heavy enough to feel solid. I was concerned about the electronic viewfinder because I wear glasses, but even that has proven to be quite usable. I took it to an airshow two days after I bought it, got some great shots of a B-17 from a little over a mile away and a couple of short HD vids of a P-51 buzzing the field. The zoom is smooth and easy, and that button on the side that zooms back to let you re-find your subject and then zoom back out to where you were before is a great touch. The price is right. It's my first Canon after decades of Nikons, and I'm perfectly pleased with this camera. It won't replace my DSLR for some things, but overall it's a darn fine camera.

You can spend more money, but IMHO you cannot get a better camera than the SX50. Most of the more expensive ones are lacking some of the features of the SX50 and have very minor improvements in some areas.

My only desire for upgrading my SX50 is in finding out what the next version will have!! Looking forward to seeing what Canon comes up with next!!

There's a newer Sony version of the one you have with a 50x zoom lens. Some on here just recently posted some results and they were excellent. From what I've seen posted on here I thought the camera was better to the canon but at the very least equal too. Might be worth checking out.

Right now I don't think you can beat the SX50. Don't know what the Sony will be priced at and Sony is good. I can speak of my experience with the SX50 and it has been nothing but amazing. I find my self shooting it more than my Nikon D7000.

I have SX50 and use it occasionally when I don't want to carry my full frame Canon DSLR. It's a nice camera. The main thing that I dislike is the amount of noise under low light conditions. Maybe I am spoiled by my DSLR but I do have issues with its noise. Otherwise it's a fine camera for the price.
