Hi. Got quite a few responses to my postings of Tugboat and Boats art, created in PhotoShop from my original photographs. Here's another one created from a photo I took in Frenchtown, NJ. There are 33 layers in the file, and it's not complete yet.

I really enjoy the crisp "ultra reality" look (to coin a phrase). I can't imagine how you paint over a photo to achieve this look.
Thanks .

Lots of cutting and pasting of repetitive textures... using filters such as noise and textures... the PEN tool is the most often used tool... my eyes are usually crossed after about an hour, so I work on an image this complex in stages. Lots of stages!

Interesting concept...What I perceive is you are using parts of photographs and compositing them in layers to compose an entirely differenct scene. this one looks more illustrative than photographic...tiles? Can you give a little more information on your process?

No, I'm not using any parts of the original. Everything in the final image is created in Photoshop. The "parts" of the original are merely for basic reference of shapes and textures. I alter them to my design "vision". Sounds impressive, but it really is just fun, and time consuming!

very well done, by your detail I can see the time you put into these. Check out this photo artist Bert Monroy http://www.bertmonroy.com/fineart/text/fineart1.htm#

His work is all created with photoshop and illustrator these are not photographs, but hand done. He is amazing

Don't be depressed, be challenged ! You already have a handle on the technique.

When you look into the details of his work, you might be even more amazed. One image I looked at required 1,500 or more PS layers and the finished file was over a gigabyte in size.
